Wheelchair Grants

Wheelchair Grant applications are accepted and reviewed during the below grant cycles:

February 1, 2023 – April 30, 2023

August 1, 2023 – October 31, 2023

Grant Priorities

  • Programs placing an emphasis on wheelchair offerings that attract new players
  • Programs made available for under-resourced wheelchair athletes in economically challenged communities
  • Youth wheelchair tennis programs
  • Adaptive wheelchair tennis programs

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be a charitable nonprofit organization as designated by the IRS or be a government entity (schools, parks & recreation sites)
  • Must be a USTA Organizational Member in good standing. Please visit Membership.USTA.com
  • Have a broad base of community support and meet a compelling need in the community
  • Align with the Foundation’s priorities for the wheelchair grant
  • If working with Youth, must be SafePlay approved. Please visit www.usta.com/en/home/safe-play.html to get approved today!

 

Additional Information

Funding Exclusions: Funds will NOT be granted for the following:

  • Individuals
  • Transportation
  • Scholarships
  • Salaries/wages for administrative staff
  • Capital Projects

Maximum Grant Award: $10,000

Application Instructions

Each application MUST include the following information:

  • Accurate and complete contact information
  • Detailed and complete answers to all required questions in the narrative section that clearly outlines:
    • A compelling need for the wheelchair program
    • Complete wheelchair program information
    • Specific goals and evaluation tools
    • Collaborations and partnerships
    • Matching funds and in-kind support
    • Plan for sustainability for the future

The following required documentation to be uploaded at the time of grant application submission:

  • IRS Letter of Determination
  • Most recent IRS 990 Form
  • Current list of Officers and Board of Directors
  • Current organization operating budget
  • Detailed and balanced wheelchair program budget
